Leading Edge Logistics Earns Department of Defense Certification3PL Becomes DOD Certified Transportation Service Provider. (September 26, 2007) Philadelphia: The Department of Defense (DOD) has certified Leading Edge Logistics as a DOD transportation provider. LEL will be used by the DOD to transport government freight of “all kinds”, excluding household goods; arms, ammunition and explosives; also sensitive and classified shipments. LEL will be helping the DOD to save millions of dollars in freight transportation management. The Department of Defense is utilizing the help of a 3PL in order to draw on the first-class business practices that already exist within LEL, to achieve efficiencies in distribution and associated cost savings. Just like any successful company the DOD acknowledges the fact that sometimes they must call upon a company that knows more about and outside subject such as transportation. “Knowing how important the material is that we transport for the Department of Defense, you can image the demanding requirements that LEL had to meet in order to become certified,” said Tom Torcomian, President of Leading Edge Logistics.
